Lance G. Montour
About
A principal in the firm, Mr. Montour concentrates his practice in the areas of workers' compensation defense, personal injury liability defense, insurance defense, administrative law and general civil litigation. He has been a practicing member of the Maryland Bar since 1985 and of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland since 1989. He regularly represents the interest of employers and their insurers before at all levels of the Maryland judicial system, as well as before administrative agencies, such as the Workers' Compensation Commission of Maryland.
Mr. Montour received his undergraduate degree from Loyola College of Maryland (now Loyola University) in 1981. This was followed by his completion of the 3-year program at the University of Maryland School of Law, from which he graduated in 1984. After passing the bar in 1984, Mr. Montour proceeded to practice law starting in the fields of general civil and personal injury litigation. Despite his current areas of concentration, his past practice areas, have included cases involving bankruptcy, criminal law, and domestic matters.
Though involved on a day to day basis with the requirements of an active litigation practice, Mr. Montour stays involved in the legal community as a member of various associations, having contributed as a writer or speaker for numerous affiliations, publications and seminars, which include: Larson’s National Workers’ Compensation Advisory Board (Maryland); The Maryland Workers’ Compensation Handbook, Third Edition (LexisNexis Matthew bender); Maryland Workers’ Compensation Educational Association 2004 (presenter for update of recent case law); and Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (Advanced Workers’ Compensation Faculty 1995, 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2001).
